Woke up today with my emotions all over the place.
It’s HUSH finale today.
Sometime in September 2015 my friend Nk’iru. Njoku called me and said she had recommended me as Head Writer for a new M-Net/Africa Magic show. I was a bit reluctant. I had never worked with Africa Magic before and after producing MTVShuga4 that year, I thought it was time to face a few personal projects. But Nkiru is not one to take no for an answer, especially when she knows something is good for you, even when you don’t see it. So she pushed and I gave in.
About a week later, I got a call from Rogers Ofime. He asked that we meet. We did and agreed, shook hands across his office table and the deal was done.
Here we are, 259 episodes later and it’s the finale and it’s been an amazing journey.
One day we will tell the story of HUSH in full. Today, I just want to say thank you.
Thank you Nk’iru. Njoku for remembering, for never forgetting.
Thank you Rogers Ofime for taking a risk. There was a lot of doubt all around at the beginning. Many thought I couldn’t do it. I guess Nkiru’s words were enough for you. I am grateful.
Thank you ‘Ope Odugbemi. You are a calming force, putting out fires right, left and centre.
Thank you Victor Sanchez Aghahowa. We shared a writing room again ten years after Spider. We made magic. We’ll do it again with Jemeji.
Thanks to all the writers I worked with on this project. The Head Writer is only as good as the writers he/she works with. You guys are beyond amazing.
Thank you all for your kind words and unflinching support.
Enjoy the finale!
