Igbo Traders in Lagos vow to continue to support the development of Lagos and the APC. They asked the state to stop the discrimination against them.

The APC applauded the traders for their contribution to the state and promised them better treatment Igbo traders in Lagos have expressed their continued support for the growth of the state and urged the government to increase interaction with them for better understanding.

NAN reports that the traders under the aegis of Igbo Traders in All Progressives Congress issued a communiqué at the end of their meeting in Lagos where they called for an end to what they described as “discrimination against the igbos on
levies and taxes at the various markets”.

Mr Erondu Chinedu who coordinated the meeting also asked for more inclusion of the Igbos in the political affairs of the state to give them a sense of belonging.

Chief Odus Ikejiobi who is the president-general of the association said the Igbos were in support of the government of Akinwunmi Ambode and the APC. He said: “We are Igbo traders from all parts of Lagos. Some of us were born here, while others had their children here, so we are part of the state`s economy.

“We believe Lagos is our home and we need to protect it. That is why we are pledging our unalloyed support to the administration in the state. “We also support our great leader, Asiwaju
Bola Ahmed Tinubu; he is a detrabilised Nigerian who has made Lagos a home for us all.

“We are in support of his politics because we know he means well for the state and the nation. “We believe in the APC and we will continue to support the party both at the state and national level to take the nation to greater heights.” He said they believed in the AP change agenda and urged other Igbos yet to join to do so.

He called on the state government to reciprocate by addressing the challenges of the Igbo traders in the state. Mr Ganiyu Ajose who represented the APC applauded the Igbo traders for their contribution to the state. He commended them for their support for the party and the state government and described them as them as part of the builders of Lagos.

Ajose said he was impressed with the huge turnout at the maiden meeting and urged them to continue to work towards the development of the state. He said: “The Igbos are part of Lagos, we recognise you.

I urge you to be resolute in your support for our party, the state government and our leader, Asiwaju Tinubu. “We will do all our best to provide the atmosphere for you to succeed. We are partners in progress and we will work with you to achieve a greater Lagos.”
