There’s good news for users of the Asus ZenFone 2 smartphone from
Asus. The company is finally pushing out the much-awaited update
for Android 6.0 Marshmallow for this handset. This comes barely a
week after Google announced the release of their Nougat 7 operating
system. Asus has launched the update for the ZE551ML and SE55ML
models of their ZenFone 2.
The Taiwan-based company confirmed that both ZenFone 2 and its
Zenfone 2 Deluxe models would benefit from Marshmallow way back
in November 2015. Other devices that were named in this promise
ZenFone 2 Selfie, PadFone S and ZenFone 2 Laser.
The manufacturer also provided an update for the ZenFone 2 Laser
device in May this year. There just was no Marshmallow update for
ZenFone 2 even after the company said the update would be coming
before the second quarter of 2016.
The changelog for the ZenFone 2 device shows that the firmware
bears version number 4.21.40.134. Users are going to get the update
OTA (Over the Air). It will bring some significant new apps to the
handset, including Google Messenger, Instagram, Google Calendar,
Facebook and Facebook Messenger.
After installing the update, users of the ZenFone will also as much as
21 total pre-installed apps removed from their phone. These include
Jawbone UP, Google Play Books, Google+, Asus Backup, Data
Transfer, party Link and TripAdvisor, among many others. Post-the-
update, users will get support for Multi-user or SnapView. The
software update will also include tons of other features that
Marshmallow brings across the board.
Asus has also offered some advice for users downloading this
software update; they should shift apps to the internal storage since
the update doesn’t work on APP2SD. It’s also recommendable to
remove Asus Messaging and Asus Calendar.
Owners of the ZenFone 2 can manually download the update directly
from the manufacturer’s website. They could also wait to get the
usual notification on their device.
